This year's annual BCC ball took the shape of a Charity Ethno Ball and was a unique event uniting Bulgarians, Ukrainians and friends of those ancient Eastern European cultures in support of educational charitable causes. It was an evening of true Slavonic hospitality with a champagne reception and a splendid three-course meal on board of HMS President 1918 on the River Thames. HMS President 1918 is one of the most spectacular landmarks up and down the Thames. With its stylish décor, the beautiful ballroom at HMS President 1918 in the heart of the City of London, it provided the perfect backdrop for this truly effervescent and unique Ethno Ball. To add to the Ethno spirit of the Ball the dress code included National/Traditional Costumes, as well as the traditional Black Tie/Long Evening Dress.
The Ball was held in support of two charities representing Bulgaria and Ukraine respectively – Friends of Bulgaria (in aid of the Bulgarian School in London) and Friends of the UCU (Ukrainian Catholic University). Both recipients are independent establishments which provide a first-class education to the young people from Bulgaria and Ukraine in the UK. It was also in celebration of the introduction by Bulgaria to the EU of the Cyrillic Alphabet, created by the two Bulgarian brothers St. St. Cyril and Methodius.
The evening included special performances, celebrating the rich heritage of the two nations. In the later hours of the evening the entertainment was in the hands of the famous Ukrainian musician and DJ Oleh Skrypka (DJ O’Skrypka).
Admission for this event was strictly by tickets.
